Delete your account

You can delete your RefuseRadar account and the personal data attached to it at any time. There are two ways to do it, and you do not need anyone's permission for either.

From inside the app

  1. Open RefuseRadar and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Choose Delete account and confirm.

By request, if you cannot sign in

Email support@refuseradar.com from the address on the account, with the subject Delete my account. If you signed up with a phone number, include it so the account can be found.

We will confirm by reply and complete the deletion. Asking from the registered address is how we check the request is really yours, so a request from another address will get a reply asking you to send it again from the right one.

What happens next

There is a 14 day grace period. Your account is deactivated immediately and stops appearing to other people. If you sign in again within those 14 days, the deletion is cancelled and your account returns to normal. After 14 days it is permanent and cannot be undone.

What is deleted, and what is not

DataWhat happens to it
Email address, phone number, password Deleted permanently.
Name, display name, gender, profile picture Deleted permanently.
Your stored locations Deleted permanently.
Notification token Deleted permanently.
Your scores and contribution history Deleted permanently.
Reports and photographs you submitted Kept, but disconnected from you. Your name is removed and the report is no longer attributable to any account. Nobody can tell who filed it.

Why reports are kept

A report is a record of a place, not a record of a person. The value of the platform is knowing whether somewhere has had the same problem repeatedly, and deleting the history every time a contributor leaves would erase that for everybody who still lives there.

So the report stays and you are removed from it. After deletion there is nothing in the report that identifies you.

If a specific photograph needs removing as well, for example because it shows something it should not, say so in your email and we will take that image down rather than only unlinking it.
